Question for those with a John Dixon adapter plate?

As most of you know, Ive got a Dixon plate that Im using to make my adapter plates (which by the way are a few days away from being DONE)..

On either side of the plate, there is a counter bored hole that is threaded for just a tiny bit. It is counter bored on both sides, and its obviously too small for the large bolts to go into, and the ones that came with the plate to mount the trans to the plate don’t fit either.

What is this used for?
