I trust nobody. If it feels wrong, it is. Be careful, I'm getting really tired of hearing "I got screwed stories" I can offer you this;
These are highly used engines. That "we do a compression check and certify the turbos are good" B.S, is just that. A few companies are supposed to cut up used cars as opposed to sourcing from junkyards but I can neither confirm nor deny that and neither can you. Assume that when you get the engine it will have a wore out turbo, busted sensors and be missing little odds and ends. It will have oil leaks and need a timing belt change as well as all the water hoses replaced, better to do it on the engine stand than in the car TRUST ME:(
Be ready for the worst, hopefully you will have over prepared. Good luck!
