ok first off i have been looking all over this site and no one really answers my question right... now daunttless you almost did but i want a solid answer i tried e-mailing you before but that junk didnt work so i figured i throw the question out here and either you or a past customer of your might... now i read in a post i dont remmeber which one that daunt said something about how you might pay a bit more for his engine but it is because the stock monifold sucks and he replaces it with a better one... but all this was talk of an SR and it mentioned later in another sentence that, that was the cause for the price to go up on the CA unfortunately. What i am interested on is getting a CA18 and i am buying this andwe are putting it together (me and my boys) with the money i got from selling my stock 97 s14, plus i will be selling the 89 crx as well to get more money just in case, but right from the begining i am not trying to spend a whole bunch of money so i just want to know if daunt upgrades the manifold and if he does... then does he upgrade anyhitng else because i want to see if this is a good choice to buy from him. also if you bought from daunt let me know what you think.... thanks and if it is a bit dificult to read its because rright now its 130 in the AM and im tired but this question has been bothering me for quite dome time and i havnt been able to get a direct answer. thanks.

i dont think daunttless has even ever seen a CA motor in person! i dont think hes ever even drivent a SR20 pwrd 240sx that wasnt owned by anther person! i dont think he will even have custom parts for a CA if he does more power to him but i think he is missing any real hands on with these motors, look into venus auto for motors , or any other motor supllier that carries Sr20dets. they might be able to get them .

The truth...trust yourself, you can't REALLY trust anyone else. I know that's not helpful, but its the god honest truth. Now as for engines...call around locally, I've found at least one place in Dallas that has them (for over 2000 dollars!!!!...ridiculous). It's possible to find them, you just have to look hard. And of course, Venus has them always it seems, I'm pricing them right now actually. I also know of a place in Austin that might be getting me a clip. The supply of CA's hasnt dried up quite yet.

I trust nobody. If it feels wrong, it is. Be careful, I'm getting really tired of hearing "I got screwed stories" I can offer you this;

These are highly used engines. That "we do a compression check and certify the turbos are good" B.S, is just that. A few companies are supposed to cut up used cars as opposed to sourcing from junkyards but I can neither confirm nor deny that and neither can you. Assume that when you get the engine it will have a wore out turbo, busted sensors and be missing little odds and ends. It will have oil leaks and need a timing belt change as well as all the water hoses replaced, better to do it on the engine stand than in the car TRUST ME:(

Be ready for the worst, hopefully you will have over prepared. Good luck!

I think the grand majority of these engine importers are trying to do a good job but things happen; things get busted subcontractors screw them and the first indication is when you open your box and there is a CA18i and a dead cat in it. You make a phone call and people at importer X are getting on the phones calling their suppliers over here cussing them out and trying to cover their butts. There is a reason I don't mess with that stuff.

Throw up a thread in 240 general and ask who people got their engines from and how good they were treated, you will get more input.

venus auto, quoted me $1500 for a CA18 clip, plus shipping. I've heard a couple horror stories from them as far as cut harness', but those were engine sets, I don't think you have as much to worry about if it's a clip,

Well guys, I found another RWD CA18DET swap with complete harness, mines ECU and all the extras. The guy actually takes a trip to japan and picks out his lot (I can verify this). He wants $1800 for the set. Anyone interested let me know. The good thing about these is, I am the middle man and your liason and you will not get screwed "regardless". I figure I'm doing these guys a favor by helping them move engines that no one would otherwise buy. I saw the engine today and it's not too tacky looking. And Btw, the only thing I get out of this is possibly a discount or credit on a motor set. I don't need the money and I definitely will not try to profit from any of you. I ain't rich, but I fare pretty well and I just don't want to see another CA lover get yoked-out like one of our board members did to other unsuspecting board members.

can you give me his number boost? I have some questions to ask about manifolds...apparently the local guys here have enough parts to build a CA, but no manifolds! LOL i might just keep mine off the current engine and send them the block and the head...we'll see!

His name is (LMAO:D ) Brian and his # is (954) 894-2900. He's an Avid fan of the CA and will swaer that that CA is more superior to the SR. To me and honestly, a bit touchy with the cost of some of his engines, but the man with the money can always deal.
