I'm about to buy an R200 rearend from a 300ZX n/a (which has the 4.08 ratio I am seeking) to install in my 95Q45t. I just read a thread elsewhere that hinted the 240 might have the same rearend...

My question is this: If the 240 has the exact same rearend as the 300ZX and the Q45 (with the 4.08 ratio), it stands to reason I could purchase that for less $ (there's wrecked 240's all over Phoenix).

Can anyone clear this up?

Thanks brothas

AFIK..... the non-turbo 300zx and the 240 share the same rear differential.... but I think the 3rd member may be different (this doesn't affect the swap though).

Strangely, I was always under the asumption we had a 3.86:1 rear end... but I could be wrong....

Yes it is infact a 4.08 in the 240's r200. But the thing is very few 240's came with it as in the s13's you needed the abs and hicas package to get it. You will also need to swap out the cover on the s13 for the Q (I would image as you need to swap covers to stick anyother Diff s14 j30 na z into an s13).

S14 came with it as well but needed to be either an SE or LE with abs and then you could get it The S14 should have the same mounting points, abs sensor location and everything.

Now the thing is you will need to swap out your halfshafts into it if it is Identical to the NA Z. This is because 1. the shafts are thinner IIRC and the kicker 2. the 240 uses 3 sets of two bolts on the halfshaft flange, vs the single 5 star type of the NA Z.

Good Luck finding one though as they are hard to come by.

Got it - 96, please disregard my post in Gen Chat re: this topic. Thanks for the info bro.

Incidentally, I found 2 here in Phoenix from low-mileage 94 and 95 300ZXna's. Anybody wants the other one let me know - $550 plus shipping.

No biggie I mean I was off with the NA Z gear and got the last 2 numbers on the 3.916 gear for the J30 mixed up (said 3.96 off the top of my head). But I do know my 240 and TT-Z gear hehe but thats only because thats all I deal with. My friend is a TT nut and Im the 240 nut.
