Question for Scott(Nistech) or any other mechanic/ex-mechanic

http://www.240sx.org/faq/index.html. if you go there and scroll down to "shifting faster with an auto" it will describe you removing the resistor for faster shifting. My questions are What is the name for the resistor? and Will it really be ok to remove it?

its called a dropping resistor. My response to that is, The factory put it there for a reason so it must have to be there...lol I dont really know what kinda adverse effects long term it might cause to the car but I know guys do it. The shift is much harsher though without it in place.
