Dennis,In your opinion, if you replace your factory coils (on a G35 coupe) with lets say the Eibach pro kit for that car, without upgrading your factory struts, will that increase your likelyhood for "early" breakdown of the factory struts? I have had conflicting opinions about this matter & I a trying to come to a hard conclusion. Thanks in advance!-Joe

Springs are springs and the shocks are matched to the spring rate and vehicle weight...........and the unsprung wheel/tire suspension/brake caliper rotor weight [150 pounds?]

A 20% stiffer spring will create 20% more peak energy this will cause shocks to wear faster since there will be more movement of the shock [oscillation decay] and the shock will not disburse the energy over as wide a range of stroke. The oil inside the shock will get hotter and the seals will war faster. If the rebound life of oem is 60,000 miles then at wost you would reduce the life by a third.......probably only 20-25%.

It is doublful that lowering springs will make a meaningful increase in the G35 handling...........sure a mesurement of 2% is possible but whether the driver can use this is iffy.

Anyway the G rears are easy to change since they are separate from springs and the rears always go first.

Hopefully someone will come out with a stiffer rear sway bar that will eleviate the need for stiffer springs.
