I've heard that when removing the old ones if you pull to hard, that can cause them to break.Might need a new cluster, I'm not sure though.

What could I brake. I pulled the pin with the needles still on them. I also put them back in the same place. Man...this sucks.

when someone does this 100% correctly, I'd love to see a write-up for it.

i've searched around and read through a few threads, but haven't yet found a write up.

They look good. Color on needles looks better than the other guy's. If I were you, I would get 2-3 extra clusters and swap the needles on speedometer until it works. SOHC clusters are easier to find than DOHC's.

I swapped to blue LEDS and used a red sharpie on my needles yesterday and you can't see the light through them now. Seems like we are stuck with crap colors.

i did the needle swap a few weeks back ago. mine turned out ok. but i didn't pull the needles straight out. i twisted them off and put them back on the same way.

I really want to do this to both my cars. But if they break really easily, that kind of sucks.

if you pulled the pins out with the needles than yes you can put them back in too far. But you need to know how its not working, is the needle simply not moving or is it binding on something?

you can check this by pulling the clear cover off, getting up some speed and then very gently pull on the speedo needle. don't pull it out just away from its seated position so it can move freely. if it's just binding it will move to the correct speed for a moment before resting back on whatever is binding it.

if it's just binding on something you can pull the pin out a little, or completely and then put it back in but not as far this time. if the gauge is simply not functional then you need to replace the speedo or get a new cluster.

also, did you just change the needle or is ther more too this?(ie: LEDS or something under the needle hub).

I wouldn't call this a "mod" but whatever, just grab a sharpie in the color of your choice and put one thin layer in the needle without removing it and wallah! your riding in style. Thenyou don't have to worry about breaking anything the way I did too lol

I replaced the old bulbs on my 1993 hatch and not the speedo doesn't work, it lights up and all, but it just sits at 0 mph. And also my RPM needle is kinda jumpy
