I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a new 2009 murano. I would like to get the advice of previous murano owners as to whether i should buy a murano or not... have you had any problems with your muranos? are they really deffective? are the transmissions reliable? any major problems?any advice or info will be greatly appreciated. what reputation do these cars have? from what i have heard... 2002 and up nissans have been an upset to their owners as far as quality and defects and ownership experience is concerned. is this true. thanks.

I have '05 -- bought it used in '07 with 11k miles on it. It has 47k on it now. Been back and forth to Vancouver Island (about a 2000 mile round trip), one other 1000 mile round trip and the rest local city and hwy. I have loved the Murano -- no problems at all -- nothing. Love the VST -- once you get used to it. I avg. 17 mpg in city driving, 19-20 mpg city and hwy, and 23-24 mpg at 75 mph freeway. I have avg'd as high as 28mpg hwy at 65 mph -- fairly flat terrain. Hope this helps.

My only wish was for the extra row of seating that the Acura and Toyota option. But the rear seating is spacious otherwise and I am beating my friends with the Highlander and Acura in mpg. Also, the Murano with VST pulls up steep hills with ease under load, much better than the highlander from what I have driven.

The quality as of the last two years is simply amazing! My '08 Armada is built so much better than my '04 QX56, I was very shocked! You have nothing to worry about, there aren't any more CVT transmissions failing that a regular auto or manual. I did previously own an '03 Murano, no problems, and I loved it.
