I just put in my new shocks and springs. For the rear shocks i installed them so that the adjustment dial faced the inside, thinking the brake rotors would be in the way of seeing it. The problem is that now that the car sits lower it is very hard to get down under the car and turn the knob, and on the left side the exhaust makes it impossible to see.

Did anyone else install their shocks like this? How about with them facing to the outside. Would it be worth it for me to unbolt them, spin them 180 deg. and bold them back in?

Thanks

i dont have agx, but for the stiffness they go on the inside. feel around for the nob and just spin it a direction, you will feel clicks as you go for number to number.

to see where you are, lie down under the rear tire ( directly behind it) the look across above your other wheel and you should be able to see the nob ( atleast the bottom of it. so if you see 2, that means it is at 4 depending on where your arrow is pointing to (again for setting))

i have tanabe coilovers and i beleeive they use kyb insetrs so this should be the same for you

I faced em outwards, absolutely no clearance problems with the brake rotors. I have 5 spoke rims so I can reach through em to adjust the dampening. It should be pretty easy to turn em around, lift the car back up, unbolt the where it attaches to the hub, spin em, and bolt em back on.

well, i got two responses, one that supported a different way. I know it would be fairly easy to change, but perhaps i'll just leave it the way it is. Thanks for your input. Since someone else has done it this way i guess it isn't too bad, i just wondered if i was the only one who did it. I think i'll save myself the trouble and just leave it.

Thanks guys.

i did the SAME thing. it really doesnt matter which way you put them. its just a lil more of a PITA with the knob facing in. i have mine like that. i didnt feel like taking them out again, i can just count clicks.

The bottom part of the AGX is tapered to match the hub mounting bolt. You'll notice one end of the opening on the bottom strut is larger than the other. The adjustment knob is supposed to be facing inward due to the taper of the hub bolt. Install it the wrong way and it may make a gang of noise later on.

yes leave them. I use a small mirror to check where they are set. they are kinda hard to see when the car is on the ground. but the mirror does the trick. and I try to remember where there are set and I just count the clicks when I'm at autocross to turn them up. then a quick double check with the mirror to be sure.

From my understanding, Konis must be removed to adjust them. They can be modified to be externally adjustable though...

Oh and by the way, the Koni's are only adjustable when completely dissasembled from the spring...that's why my car has koni front and kyb rear struts.
