Since there are no premade turbo kits for the ka24e (unless I'm mistaken), if I were to assemble a turbo kit myself, which parts can be "off the shelf" and which have to be custom made/fabricated?

I've read various ka24e-t projects where people have fabbed their own headers, exhausts, pipes, and the like. I'd like to know which parts I would have to have a shop make for me, and which I can buy and install myself.

I know various turbos may require different plumbing and other parts, but generally, for those who have done a ka24e-t:

1) Which parts did YOU particularly have to have custom made?

and

2) Are there any particular setups which might be more newbie friendly (i.e. less custom parts)?

Thanks in advance!

- If I sound like a newbie, it's because I am one :D

1. manifold, down pipe and all the intake/intercooler piping

2. turbo, intercooler, wastegate, bypass valve, injectors, fuel pump.

Mine isnt a KA24ET yet. but.....

there are a few companies, or people that are supposed to be coming out with turbo manifolds (not headers) for the E, And Realnissan sells them with their kits now. Any exhaust for any S13 will fit any other S13, doesnt matter whether its the KA24DE, or the KA24E. what exactly do you mean by "pipes"?

Any full bolt-on kit would be more newbie friendly than putting together your own setup.

check the open threads, if I recall someone is making stainless log syle ka24E manifolds for what was it, 350 bucks??other than the manifold your preparations are gonna be the same as ka24DE except you have top mount injectors stock and the DE has side mount. I've heard rb26dett 444's will fit fine and should give you as much fuel as you would need. you will need a fuel controller though. you can also get a custom fuel rail with msd's or similar.
