Why did you sell your 240?

I'm sure there are quite a few people on here who sold them and went back to them, etc.

I always wondered why people went to different cars, got out of the game, or maybe just didn't like the scene.

If I sold my S13 right now it'd be because of poor MPG, but I'm hoping that a new O2 Sensor and some plug wires will fix that up.

Thing is, there are fan boys in every car culture. Unless your buying up 70's imports or something, and the only reason there aren't fan boys for 510's, 2002's, and 240Z's is because they are becoming so rusted out that most people can't afford to repair them.

Saying "I sold my 240SX but bought a 350Z to avoid the fan boys" is like saying you bought a Ferrari over a Viper because of the same thing. You spend more money, less people are going own/modify the same car as you.

I didn't get into a 240 because I wanted a SR20 swapped low offset drift rig, I bought one because they are supposed to get better MPG than a similar priced Camaro or Mustang, are easier to find than a AE86 or rwd Corolla, newer than a S12, and all of the BMW's in my area were over priced for the same mileage.

I wanted something fun and RWD, with some semblence of a trunk. Honestly, had I found a 150k $1000 Miata I probably would've picked up one of those, but you wanna talk overpriced? Miata is it.

Interesting responses, keep it going.

Did that. The FC was cool, really liked the high rev nature of the rotary, but I wouldn't want as a daily driver, and if I ever had another I'd want a spare engine at hand at all times...those apex seals just can't be trusted.

One thing that really pissed me off about my first couple of weeks with the S13 were the price of brake calipers. The RX7's 2 pot front calipers were $35 a piece in 2006, and the rears were only a little over $20.

Compare that to my $59 front caliper on the 240 and $67 bucks for a single rear caliper! JEEZ!

I'm personally thinking about selling mine, but it's a super hard decision. It took what feels like forever to finally coax my dad into buying me one. And, mine is basically perfect. Everything works, and no rust at all. Like, AT ALL. However, I wanted to get into drifting, but it's something I just can't afford right now - and, I find myself loving to go on long night drives. I'm thinking of a Civic hatch, because of gas mileage, they're cheap, and I would figure great to really learn manual transmission (I know HOW to drive one, just need practice...).

Yep, hard decision...

I got rid of my blue hatch because i swapped a **** motor out and another one in and still was a **** motor. Sold it to get a Maxima and then traded the Maxima for another S14.

honestly, if i had the $$$ to buy a 3rd 240, i'd deff get an s14. But i already have 4 vehicles. I've eventually sold every vehicle i've owned except my 240's - just can't part with em for some reason.

I sold my first 240 because a friend of mine drove it and it over heated so he poured cold water on the engine and warped it. Got an acura out of it.

I decided I wanted to build my own 240, so I got 2 different 240's and built a single one out of it and scrapped the other after taking everything I could. I sold that one because the frame was so rusted out that it snapped in half.

My third 240 was my very first coupe and I sold that one because some dumb *** in a parking lot hit the rear end and insurance wanted to total it out so I traded it to a guy who was going to rebuild it. I got my current 92 GMC sierra out of it.

As soon as I get into an apartment I'm going to be looking for another 240. I have very high expectations of the next 240. It needs to be a 90-93 hatchback with a moon roof and power locks and windows hopefully I will find one when I have the money to buy it.... *sigh*

I sold mine because i fell out of love with the hatch and here in NY the s13 just isnt capable of handling rust. Being that im still broke though i need another s13, im gonna wait for a coupe though. HOPEFULLY i can find a nice deal on an s14.

my first car was an s14, I totaled that one in 3 months, found another s14 totaled it in 2 years. Put together an s13 and finally got parts on it that the previous 240s didnt have ie swap coils etc etc. I always think about having other cars and selling mine but I have not yet, its kind of boring when everyone has a 240 but I love my s13 right now so we will just see how long it keeps satisfying me

I sold my first 240, because it was a piece of crap that kept on getting hit in my HS parking lot. I sold my second 240 (the one in my sigvvv) because it was getting too much attention from both thieves and the police and I needed the money to start up my new project 240.

I wish I never even invested 12 grand into my 240, it's not even running and I have wanted to give it up several times. Once I finish and have it running well I'm going to either part it out or sell it because I'm not that into it anymore.

240's are like crack.

No joke.

Every time I get rid of one, I end up getting/building another.

I technically still own my 240 however I am daily driving my new car. I just bought a 2000 Mustang GT, v8, 5-spd, Full K&N intake, Borla Exhaust, etc in my opinion it is a much superior car. Stock it comes with way more hp, handles excellent, the interior is worlds better than the 240sx, imho it looks better and is just a better car all around with no problem. Plus you can't beat an american v8 I love my mustang and my 240 but I have to say that the mustang is way superior.
