Hey Doc,

I just bought the 8120 Navi Unit and was wondering if the wiring hook up is simular to that of the Avic-Z2s. Is there a write up how to hook up this unit? Or are the instructions on the Kenwood Manual pretty self explainatory? Thanks for the Help.

Instructions are pretty much straightforward...

to watch videos and have access to Nav while driving, just ground the light green wire that is supposed to be attached to the parking brake.

for the reverse camera (if you hook one up), follow my Avic D3 instructions on accessing the correct wire

you don't need to tap into the vehicle speed sensor wire with the Kenwood units!

There's gonna be an extra light blue/red wire thDNX8120.. use that comes with your DNX-8120.....use that ONLY if you will be hooking up other powered devices to that via a relay... (For instance, the NISSAN baffle in my trunk opening is controlled by that, so I can tap the EXT SW button on my Kenwood, and control my cold cathodes from there) if you don't plan on doing anything fance like that, then don't worry about that!

I think that's it.. hit me up if you have any more questions!

Thanks for the Information Sir. I have experience in hooking up radios and sounds but dvd/navi systems, I have not personally done one myself without someones guidence. I will attempt this and let you know how it goes.

One thing though, do I need to tap into the reverse light so the navi knows i'm goin backwards or is there no need to do so with this unit?

Thanks Again-Dom

for reverse camera reasons, yes, for navigation function, no.. the GPS will pick up when you're going backwards, but how often will that be ? lol

Doc, I swear, I love ya. If I ever open my own sound shop, U'll be the first I call to be the master installer/garage manager. I'll let you know how the install goes and post pics of this once it's done.

Cool, and if this whole Doctor thing doesn't work out and I get sued for malpractice and lose all of my patients... I'll be sure to look you up
