I dont know if its just my friends with bad luck, or the sr20det in general, but they have had some bad luck with the motors. My friend got a blacktop s13sr and it blew in about a month. My other went through 2 Srs and now is getting a RB swap. The question is, how long has your SR Lasted or how many miles do you currently have on it? I plan on doing the swap but if they are unreliable, its pretty scary. If you are one of those owners with a long lasting sr, what have you dont to maintain it? thanks for your input

do the swap right and make sure it's tuned properly for what you're trying to do...

no 25psi on the stock turbo lol

i've only put about 3000 on my engine so far, but i've had no problems. i'm still running stock boost levels and making sure all of the usual maintenance issues are being kept up with. i've known SR swaps to last a long time. any swap will last you a long time as long as you don't get boost crazy on the stock internals or run crappy gas in it.

20,000 miles on a non-stock SR and no problems other than the usual Bull$hit. I broke 2 throttle bodies due to the greddy intake manifold and soft engine mounts, it was contacting the fuse box and breaking the TB shaft. Had my homemade A/C bracket fail. A couple ghettoly-done wires fatigued and failed. That's really about it. If you don't do something dumb with the SR, it's pointlessly reliable and strong.

I think I have put on about 5000 miles and no problems yet. knock on wood. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. I got my motor from Heavy Throttle and they get only the best conditioned motors. I run the standard mods. I auto x the car, drag race it, and drive it. Great motor.

I beat the **** out of my Sentra SE-R and it threw a rod at 136,000 miles. I spun a bearing on the Sr20DET, other than that, nothing crazy.

I've had a red top sr in my car for about 3 yrs now and no problems. Just keep up with the usual fuel filter, oil/oil filter, spark plug, and other maintenance changes and should be good. I've driven it daily as this is my only car for these past 3 yrs and I've put more than 15k miles on it. This year I'm actually driving to and back from school which is a bit far from home so I'm sure I'll be putting lots of mileage on the engine.

my KA has 203,000 miles on it with nothing more than a leaky water pump change. This leads me to believe that the SR (still made by good ol' nissan after all) would run just the same if not better when properly taken care of. Its still an engine, just like most others.
