from the time i bought the car to the time it was swapped and driving it was just under 4 weeks. of course it took a week for parts to start coming in like fuel pump, radiator/fan, etc., and i didn't pick up the drivetrain until week 2. so 2 weeks from start to finish. i did the WHOLE thing myself, except that my best friend helped me guide the SR on its way in. if you're mechanically inclined and have done similar stuff you'll be right at home. easy swap compared to most other engine swaps in the import scene.

total cost of swap was about $4,500 i think, but that included many upgrades not really necessary, like big radiator/fan, full stainless exhaust setup, new hoses all over, can't think of anything else right now but the car had been sitting with a dead KA for about 2 years, so only 1 wheel's brake caliper worked, all the tires were out of round, and some other stupid stuff. if your car is currently driving okay then you could slim the swap down to about $2,500 by buying just a Walbro fuel pump and a front clip (hopefully w/ downpipe). but really you kinda need an exhaust. corked turbos act like lame NA cars.

normal It would have been around 2500 to 2800 but I upgraded alot of stuff before the eng. goes in (cause is not in yet) I'm about 4000 to 4500 don't know for sure I'm scare to do the numbers. right now I have everything is just the time that I don't have. I'm also doing everything myself so somethings takes longer with just one person.

The first time? I think I picked up a clip for about 1800, did the hg and some other misc. gaskets and with fluids probably about 2200. Took 3 days with clean up.

The second time for my personal engine took a year and a half of work and development with too much money put into it...Then it took about 30 days to trouble shoot the lil' bastard.

I bought the motorset in NOV. 2004...dumped an additional 5-6K into the build, and got it running in June 2006.

Me and my buddies usually can get a slightly modded SR swap done in 1 day. Old motor out, Prep, Wiring, Upgrades on and motor in and running.

it all depends on how knowledgeable you are about the swap. my first swap took a month. mostly waiting for parts and finding out i need this and that. now i can get a swap done in one day (depending on how motovated i am). having ALL the CORRECT parts before starting is key on a fast swap. my first swap cost me a little over 5k. i can definately do it cheaper now because i have more knowledge. if you want a good swap go to heavythrottle.com its 5k for their basic swap but you get everything in one shot. if i do another swap ill buy from them. plus check their site they have a very good write up for the swap.

there's no way you could get this kind of work in one day

why not?? with a few friends wrenching with you it really is not hard at all.

think about it. if you have everything you need the most time consuming part is labeling all of the wires.

took me and about 2 other friends about 5 days total to yank motor, take off my front end, wash and paint engine bay, drop motor in, connect the harness and ic pipping, exhaust and driveshaft, silvia front end and sideskirts. got her running the day we connected the harness. that with all the gasket changing and prep work done way before hand. bout a month of prep work since i had to wait on alot of gaskets and ****. also it wasnt putting in full days of wrenching since we all had work/school. my swap was our fourth sr swap

me and 2 friends. 1 doing wiring and 2 working on the motor.

Work included is-All wiring doneOld motor pulledEngine bay cleanedAll unecessary things removedNew motor installedMotor started.

Hell one time my buddy and one of his friends pulled an SR out of one car put it in another and did a 5 speed convertion in 1 day. Another example is a friend and I did a full motor swap with custom front mount and fully hidden wiring harness (only wires visable were Injectors and Coil Packs). This included 8 hourse of lengthening wires and custom fuse box location. This took us 2 days and then this car went on to win Best 240sx @ Nopi Atlanta.

Painting an engine bay takes longer than 1 day for obvious reasons.

It's definitely possible to do everything in one day...I might even venture out on a limb and say solo style.

yeah you can do it in a day. not hard. just make sure you've got the prep work done if you're gonna do it solo. but very doable in a day even solo if the prep work is done.

I bought my motor in a complete front clip with driveshaft, carrier bearing, and everything you need for the swap, total, shipped from Japan around $3k. I took my time doing it on weekends and after work, took a little over 8 weeks. I don't have a lot of free time. I have put in probably an additional grand or so on small things, replacement parts, aftermarket stuff, etc. I have about $4-$4.5k in it right now. The swap was easy, very straight forward. I used this site as a reference and info off other websites, following instructions laid down by those who have gone before me, it made it very easy. I ran into minimal problems, mostly just vacuum issues and some plumbing. I had Touge Factory do my wiring harness so it was plug and play, took a whole 15minutes to have that all in and plugged up. The auto to manual swap was even really easy. Again, I referenced from this site, there was a very good step by step walk through on that topic. It is an easy swap. It was almost as easy as the LS1 swap into an FC Rx7, almost... Good luck!

My motorset cost me 1600 and i've taken my time with it. I'm adding some stuff you don't really need to put it in. When its up and running i'll have about 4k into it but it will be set up pretty nice for its first turbo upgrade.

Well i have had my car for over a year now and still havent driven it and i have just tried to take the easy way out, by having people finish things for me. but whoever i take it to is an idiot, and i probalby know more than they do. i just need help with a bunch of the hoses and stuff. im not really sure were they all go, and my bro has helped my out alot with my car. i dont know if anyone knows of a site that i can read from or get some info, or if anyone could help me yourself by sending me pictures or whatever that will help me out to finish this swap. If anyone did want to send pics or anything like that they can post it or send it to my e-mail at [email protected] Anything would be really helpfull to finish my swap.
