Before anything I like the setup you guys got here i wish my car had forums like this wow...

Anyway my friend just bought a 1997 240Sx. We are gonna do an engine swap in it. I know all the different ones, I just need to hear back from you guys of which one is the best to do, we want to get the one with most HP of course. And we don't want an engine where it will be the most hard thing in the world to put into the car ;)

Thanx alot guys

its really all personal preferencebefore you swap, have you considered KA-T

then the SR20det, it will fit with almost no mods since they use that engine in japan instead of the ka

the ca18det, a little less power, cheaper, about as easy to instal, better head design

rb20det is an inline 6, considerable power

then the rb25det and the rb26dett, these are the new skyline engines, they are expensive, the engine bay will require some "custom" modification with special tools, aka sawzall and big hamer, lol. these will make the most power, but they are also the most difficult to install

"sawzall and big hamer"!? what are you talking about, man? "IF" you get a mount kit, then you won't have to do any cutting, or hammering. The only thing different from the SR swaps is that you're going to have to get the mount kit, and you're going to have to remove the crank pulley when you're putting it in. That's pretty much it. Price, on the other hand, is a whole other story. The price goes from CA, SR, RB20, 25, and 26, respectivly. The KA fits in there somewhere, depending on what you want to do to it. . . lol.Anyway, before I go any further, I'd just like to say one thing...do a search. These questions you ask have been asked many^158 times before, and you'll get more than enough info to last you a week.

It's a Georgia thing. A sawzall and hammer are major modification tools down here.

lol. I wasn't sure whether it was a figure of speech, but I just wanted to say that the RB swap will NOT require any permanant chassis modification. The only thing that you completely FUBAR is the wiring harness from the splicing. The only things that you'll need, or need to do, extra for the RB swaps are purchasing a push-type fan, radiator, and of course the mounts and drive shaft. One thing to note in putting the motor in is to take the crank pulley off before you mess up the core support. That little extra clearance goes a long way in fitting the motor.
