does anyone know if you have to swap the automatic transmission plate for the manual plate that goes between the motor and transmission or is it ok to keep the auto transmission plate.

Nope. MT needs flywheel, AT needs flexplate.

i know about the flywheel but im talking about the metal gasket that goes in between the motor and transmission housings. the auto has a 2 pc gasket and the mt has a 1 pc gasket. same bolt pattern so i didnt know if i could use the same gasket from the AT

Oh, umm about that, I am not sure. Just compare them next to each other, check the height to be sure there will be no dustplate to flywheel contact.
