I agree -- plan out everything you want to do to the car in advance. That way you can avoid constantly changing out aftermarket parts as you go.
However, I do disagree that intake kits are useless. They serve their purposes just like ever other aftermarket mod. Just about any of the maufacturer's kits (Injen, Stillen, etc.) have a huge advantage in the amount of air injested (right word?) over the stock intake.
PsYchOG35, the Injen CAI I bought was around $300 with shipping to me. The price varies, but I'm sure there's a sponsor here that could help.
