Hi i got a aftermarket tension rod for cheap but it didnt come with the 2 bolts that connected to the LCA.
So im thinking could i reuse the 2 nuts from the stock tension rod by hammering it out? or is it in there for good? because i have been hamming it and the 2 bolts not coming out of the stock tension rod

Not sure if they are removable or not... If they are, I'm assuming they use a knarled edge to "grip" the groove in the stock tension rods... These edges will probably get worn once removed, plus they most likely will not fit the hole on your new tension rods. Your best bet is probably to go out and buy some hardened nuts and bolts so that you can grab both sides in order to tighten. Be sure to use high grade bolts if this is the route you go... Home Depot is known to sell lower grade bolts so you may want to look at places like Fastenal or Granger etc. Whatever's available in your area.

Yeah the factory tension rod studs do not come out. The nuts can technically be reused but i would not feel good doing so, (nissan is s*** when it comes to hardware life). Baller Bolts would be a great place for replacement hardware for what you need (i think their tension rod kit is like 30 bucks). Or just pick up some grade 12.9 or better bolts that fit the aftermarkets you have. I agree on the Home Cheap-O hardware, just be sure of the grade material.

ok thanks for the reply, i have encoutnered another problem.
The Big Long tapered 17mm does not go through the tension rod Hole. Do afterkarmket tension rod usually come with a different 17mm?

hmm, what tension rods did you get? the Nismo rods use the OEM 17mm but there is a possibility if you have a pillow ball rod end, the bolt may be a bit stiff to get in there. Is it WAY too big, or just a tight fit? Alot of build up will occur on those bolts so if you have a wire wheel handy or some scotch brite, just buff the bolt up and clean it, run some grease and get it in there. I upgraded my entire rear suspension to pillow ball ends and some of my crappy old bolts did not want to slide in all that well. I just ran the wire wheel over them and used some gear oil and that did it.

Go to the hardware store, buy proper sized grade 8 or better hardware, and be done with it.

Personally, I wouldn't trust 8.8, but it's possible they may hold up. I would try to find some higher grade ones.. at least 10.9's, these shouldn't be too hard to find.
