hey everyone,
i am new to this forum and just recently bought a 92 240sx le.
i am very excited to start on this project car. inthe mean time i have two questions?

!) when i bought the car the guy who sold it included a turbo which is downstairs in the basement, now temporarily would like to give the car a little more umph! until i buy the sr20det, so what extra parts do i need to install it? all i have is the turbo itself?

2) once a buy an sr20det next year i was wondering what extra parts do i need? it comes with the full engine and standard transmission and my car is an automatic right now.

thank you for taking the time to read this top[ic and hope to learn lots from all u guys.

well for the turbo im assuming yu have a stock ka24de... it depends how much "uhmph" you're looking for and how much you're willing to spend... basically though yur gonna need a turbo manifold (top mount or bottom mount) and midpipe/downpipe that works with the manifold.... you're gonna need some oil feed lines. you can tee the oil pressure sensor or buy an oil filter sandwhich adapter (cheaper easier)... then you're gonna have to get an oil return line and youre gonna have to weld an oil return bung into your oil pan.... also you need some piping to pipe it into the intake manifold and an intercooler.... also depending on what kind of turbo you have, you may need to buy some kind of oil reducer for the feed line... now for the fuel part... you can simply buy an fmu or safc or bigger injectors and ecu tune... ALSO.... BOV, proper wastegate (internal or external) spark plugs, and adjusting you're timing etc etc etc... i think that's mostly it (someone tell me if im missing anything important).... if you're gonna turbo the KA24 you might want to check out http://www.ka-t.org and this forum post "dohc turbo for dummies" http://www.ka-t.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6263

for the sr20 btw, you're gonna need at least an uncut ecu... but since you're going from auto to manual you might need some kind of clutch pedal and slave/master cylinders for the manual transmission...

if youve already got the turbo, and are planning on putting it on your KA, stick with that motor, its a good motor and has a lot of potential.

just my 2 cents.

Yeah theres no real point in boosting the KA then getting an SR. Its relatively the same price to boost a KA as it is to swap an SR.
