hey have a quick question about my 02 Nissan pathfinder se 2wd. im going to be installing a b&m trans cooler an the Magnefine in-line transmission filter. just to make sure all that needs to be done is unplug return line from trans an run it up to B&m cooler inlet (which is mounted on the condenser) an than run the cooler to the in-line filter than back to the trans correct? i changed the trans oil less than a 1,000 miles ago so i wont be replacing that. also i'll be installing a trailer hitch an 4-way connector my question is how do i get the 4-way ran underneath the truck instead of running it out the back hatch when in use? I know others have ran it through the water drain plugs somewhere in the back but just want to verify that .. from underneath were the spare tire mounts i see the rubber drain plug is that the one everyone uses. thanks

For your transcooler work: Make darn sure everything is spotlessly clean before you start. A can or two of Gunk will do
it.

I ran the four wire cable in through a rubber plug located under the left (US drivers) tail light. That's where the kit I
installed need to connect to the truck. I left the four prong connector right there, and ran a cable with a male
four-prong on one end and a female on the other from the hitch to under the tail light. I launch in salt water, and
have to replace the connector at the hitch every few years. This made it real easy. The boat trailer has a similar
replaceable "extension cord".

B&M 70264 is perfect. Put the filter on the driver's side hose (transmission cooler output - hotter oil filters easier), connect the cooler from the filter to the auxiliary transmission cooler, then the other end of the cooler to the passenger side circuit return line.

K thanks so i connect filter to driver side hose an than connect the passager side hose of the the oem cooler to the aux cooler than run the aux cooler to the passager side. And the inline filter flow arrow would be pointed towards the radiator correct? Sorry for the confusion

I agree with Town but for a differnt reason.. pre cooling the trans fluid before it goes into the radiator heat exchanger will reduce stress on that part which is good since if it fails you blow out your transmission

But wouldnt it take longer for trans fluid to reach a proper operating temp? Especially during winter etc? I know heats is a trans worse enemy but to cold of fluid would be just as bad ..

So the driverside hose is the trans return line?

Driver's side hose is the transmission to cooler line. Passenger's side hose is the cooler return to transmission.

The B&M coolers have a stacked plate design with multiple oil flow paths to ensure that fluid that is too cold will bypass the auxiliary cooler; when the fluid is hot enough, the fluid will be cooled by the additional cooler.

K thanks what also type of trans temp gauge ? I know of the b &m one just really dont wanna drill in the trans pan i know they make a block that can be hooked up in chain with the cooler return line to screw in sensor... wonder if the scangauge 2 can read trans temp through obd2 port?

I don't know whether any generic scan tool could read transmission temp from the ECU. I have a 2WD which apparently lacks the temperature probe in the transmission pan (4WD models have it), and Torque doesn't have the "transmission temperature" PID available for use in my case.

I don't have a trans temp gauge, never bothered to install one since I never tow anything. This thread on NPORA may help you out with that.
