Hey guys, another question for you all.

I was fiddling around with putting my radiator shroud back on over the weekend. And While I had the car running, I noticed I had gotten the TPS connector unplugged.

What I noticed, however, was that the car didn't seem to run any different with it plugged or unplugged.

My question is, is that right? Should I see it run any different with it unplugged? Or am I possibly looking at something wrong with the TPS?

to the best of my knowledge, you won't really see a difference if it's just idling. The ECU will just run that map, since you have to unplug the TPS to set base timing. If you tried to drive it with the TPS unplugged though....thats another story.

As far as sitting there and idling, the RPMs change a couple hundred when TPS is unplugged vs plugged. If all your other sensors are working properly, primarily the MAF and O2 sensors, then the car's computer can compensate for a non-working (or unplugged) TPS, but it won't run as strong or efficiently. If you plug it in and it starts running crappy, then you have issues to diagnose.

I understand. I was thinking that the TPS on the Z would be similar to the one on my 3000GT, where it would run like crap with it unplugged. Glad thats not the case. But I'm going to check that it is properly configured when i get home. Cause there's no telling at this point haha.

Appreciate the advice, though. It's a relief knowing I shouldnt be expecting failure just because it's unplugged.
