The sr20det=2.0liter hence the 20. The Ka24det= 2.4liter hence the 24.The Vq30dett= 3.0 liter hence the 30
Heres my question- Im sure that the Skyline GTR R34 does not use a 2.6 liter, Im pretty sure its a 4.5 liter. Am i wrong or did the name of the motor just break the pattern? Im a little confused. Dont flame me for this because i know its a pretty stupid question.

Keeping thread open
and neither does R34, which is what he was saying
you said the name of the skyline motor was breaking some kind of trend, but obviously you didnt know the motor was called an RB26dett, cause it clearly says 2.6L

when it comes to the s chassis and numeric naming nissan does follow that pattern, the 180sx originaly was equipped with a ca18det, but later moved to a sr20det but retained the 180sx name in japan while elsewhere in the world it was shifted to 200sx, this is the same reason we have the 240sx and the 300zx...

Europe got the CA powered 180SX though it is badged as 200sx, S14's and S14a's were 200sx's as well. You quite often find threads on sxoc about USDM 200sx asking what the hell they are.In Japan there is 2 large sedans with a 4.5 litre and the RB26 is 2.6 apparantlly due to the rules of forced induction/4wd in the 4.5litre class of the group A cars.
