I was at the dealer today trying to negotiate a price for the 2.5L '09 Altima Coupe. After asking specifically for the premium package the price given to me is "$26200 + fees, includes leather and alloy wheels with the $1000 rebate". Thing is, on my way out of dealership to ponder a bit, another sales guy flags me down, looks at the quote, and tells me that all they're doing is giving me leather seats, not the full premium package...

So...my question is this: Doesn't leather seats for the Altima Coupe mean the premium package (and convenience package) is added to the car???

This was what the website seem to be telling me...but the second sales guy seems to be telling me otherwise. I was wondering if there's any coupe owners that could clear this up for me? I'm probably getting an Altima Coupe no matter what, but I would prefer to not be surprised by a car with just leather seats and none of the other goodies the premium package has.

Print out the options for the premium package and look for those items before buying the car. Anyone can add leather trim with a Katzkin kit.

That does not seem to be a good deal. Tell them $26,200 Drive Out for 2.5SL, take it or leave it. There are plenty of other dealerships you can go to and they're dying (literally) to sell a car to you in this economy.

see, the thing is that was the drive out price. when asking the sales rep, he guaranteed me that this price included the premium package with the sound system, the sound system, and basically what the site offered in the premium package. I was just wondering if any current owners think that this price is reasonable or if it's possible for them to throw in leather seats and not have anything else from the premium package, since the quote only says "includes leather + alloy wheels."

I live in a completely different area so this may be invalid, but I think that price may be a little high.

I got a 3.5 w/ tech and premium pkges, VDC, floormats, and kickplates for $30K. personally, I think that those options(the engine alone) should be worth more than a $4K difference.

just my $0.02

In your first post you said "$26,200 + fees", which is not the Drive Out price. "Fees", or "TT&L" or "taxes, title, and license" could add up for another $2,000.

Ask them to test drive the specific car that they offered you. You should never buy a car without test-drive it first. When you're in the car, you can check all of the premium package features, like Bose sound system, heated seats, and all of the other goodies that you wanted.

Ahh, that's what you meant by drive out. Okay, well, I thought that meant what they were offering me as the price alone. They did not have a coupe on the lot with the particular package that I was looking for, but they said they could get it down to the dealership in about 2 hours if I wanted to look at it. So as of right now...where I stand is I still don't know if the "premium package" he offered me is the same one I'm seeing online.

Dont settle at one dealer for a price. I see that your in So cal in la puente. Hit up Superior Nissan, West Covina Nissan, Power Nissan of El Monte, Performance Nissan, Metro Nissan, Empire Nissan, ect... You have plenty of dealerships around you. Make them work and fight over the sale to you. If you do that im sure you will get the best price and APR possible.

I did that with my sedan and ended up picking mine up at Empire Nissan in Ontario, only because im good friends with the sales manager there and i told him id go somewhere else if he couldnt beat the other offers i had. He went way below sticker just to get the car off the lot, 6K below, and get that sale to help meet his numbers for the month.

Regardless of what you do good luck and welcome to NICO!

Haha thanks! I wasn't going to just settle on one dealer, and am planning on looking around a bit more. I'm pretty confident in these crappy economic times, dealerships are dying to get cars off the lot...thing is, I just wanted to be sure that the price this guy was giving me was with the whole premium package so that when I went and compared prices elsewhere, I'd know what the money is going towards.

Like I mentioned earlier, the Nissan site kind of implies that leather ONLY comes with the premium package. The way it's written on the quote paper (or whatever it's called) it seems to imply he's ONLY adding leather seats. That was really all I wanted to clear up.

ah ok, i misunderstood. Well you could always try to find out where that car is and call up that dealership to see what they would sell it to you at since they dont have that one on the lot. Regardless sit in the car first and see everything first hand and then you'll be able to make them fight over it.

Im not sure about the prices where you live but that seems kinda expensive for the 2.5.. I paid right at 30k for my 3.5 fully loaded, only thing i didnt get was the navi system.. So i would definately shop around and make them fight each other for the sale... Best of luck to ya!

i got my 3.5 fully loaded...that includes navi...for 31k out the door. so, you may want to rethink that 26k for a 2.5 with premium package...

Well, the 26k was just the price they gave us right now. I'm confident with a little shopping around I could find a much lower price. However, with so many ppl reporting lower prices...what should I settle for if I'm looking at a 2.5L with premium package? And just for kicks, how about a 3.5L with premium package? What I'm pulling from this is that the 2.5L with premium should go for about 22k-23k, am I right? Seems as if the 3.5L hovers around 28k-30k?

Use Edmunds.com to research what the dealer pays rather than go by the MSRP. Then you can use that number to negotiate your price, probably can get $500 under what they paid 'cause you also get $1,000 cash back from Nissan.

definition of fully loaded = premium + tech packages! (tec package includes Navi, rear view camera, 6 disc changer with aux input below the navi unit)

To the OP...IMO, that's a bit high to pay for a 2.5... back when the A/C first came out, there were people paying 29.5K for premium package 2.5 vehicles... that was WAAAAYY overpriced then, and it still is... again, seems like 26.5K is overpriced for a 2.5 with any trim level!

I think that is a little high. I got mine not too long ago and I got the 3.5 with Premium for around that much.

The sticker on mine before we began talking money was 28. Love this car though.

Last year i got a fully loaded (kickplates, leather, vdc, bose, mats, everything else) 3.5SL sedan

for 29 flat OTD. And that was 08 when we weren't in a crapped out economy.

Jedi. Send me an e-mail if you want the contact info for the salesman that sold me my car at Performance Nissan in Duarte. He's the internet sales manager now I believe.
