Hi, we just bought my wife an 09 QX with navi, and rear dvd. I've read a lot on here about the dvd bypass for the front monitor, but that is not my real interest. I'm more interested in bypassing all the grayed out buttons that appear when you start moving. Is there a fix for this or is that more of a programming issue of the navi system that can't be modified. Any help would be appreciated.

TIA,Yan

Welcome to NICOclub! Glad to have you here in the Armada/QX56 Forum!

The DVD bypass for the front monitor will also do exactly what you are looking for, enabling the grayed buttons that are normally useless when the vehicle is moving. Let me know if you have any questions on this mod, I personally have completed this on my Armada, and a buddy's Murano!

Perfect, then let me ask you, this vehicle is a lease for us, but the button situation is extremely annoying. I'm willing to do some stuff to this vehicle, but I do not want to drill a hole for a switch, and like I said, I really don't care about being able to watch a dvd in the front while the vehicle is moving. All I want is the grayed out buttons to work. Can this mod be done without the installation of a switch?

Timmis obviously the expert on this so I will let him answer. However, you do need a way to toggle between the 2, so technically you could just wire in a toggle and leave it hidden so it is always toggled. Then just velcro it somewhere so you have access to it, but it is neither visible or in the way...

Good luck,Jonny

On my Armada, I cleverly located the switch just under the driver's side dash, just to right of the steering wheel, the switch actually faces the front of the vehicle. It works perfectly there, and no one ever knows it is there.
