Question about the engine bay with intake

Ok so i installed my injen intake awhile back in the summer and ran fine every single day, but then when searching here on the site i saw something interesting. I dont have this in my car currently and wonder if its important to the car or not. This isnt my car nor is it my intake. But the part that is circle, do i need it in my car with the injen or not? just curious about this. Thanks for any help.

no that part is unnecessary. it just directs the air to the stock air box. some people leave it on that have the injen or fujita intakes so that the fresh air is directed more at the filter. the K&N intake uses this piece for the same reason. The only difference is that K&N tells you to use it....injen and fujita dont.
