So I got into accident and bent the bumper reinforcement..one of the bolt was ruined too....so I took it out..Now I'm thinking is this a great way to reduce weight ..that metal part is heavy(I know it's dangerous to drive without that...but.......

If you're gonna dump the rebar to reduce weight, it's probably a bad idea. It's there to protect you in an accident and your motor and whatever else is behind it. I'm sure there'll be some guys saying "if you drive carefully then you won't need it" but that's a pretty flawed idea since who would purposefully get into an accident. Up to you if you want to risk it though.

In case you need another opinion...ummm...bad idea. You don't want your radiator and engine block to be your new "bumper support". The benefits of the weight reduction are out-weighted by the possibility of doing some serious damage to your car.

Really, unless this is a full-time track car do you really car about shaving a few extra pounds or running .01 seconds faster at the strip?

If you want to reduce weight, look in to Subway's "Jared Diet".

Seriously, replace that bolt and smack that bumper support back in to submission with a BFH.
