Hi, right now I do not own a 240sx but soon I hope to have one. I was wondering what are things to look for when it comes to buying one, like things that are bad and things that are good.

I'd personally look in the wheel well to see if any rust is forming down there. My old 91 240sx had that problem and my friends 91 240sx is starting to have that problem. What it does is when you turn to the right, the car would seem to want to swerve to the right as thought you quickly turned the steering wheel. Other then that, stand say like 5-10 feet in front of the car so that the car is perfectly centered, look at the two front side markers to see if the front end is bent. My 91 was like that, seems someone bumped it and the front end is more to the left then it is to the right. My other friends 90 240sx had a problem with the two main supports that run from the front all the way to the back on the bottom of the car rusting out. But those are just some things I'd look at. As for performance, well if ur doing SRSWAP, then just get one that will get you to where you're going until then.

I was thinking about doing the SRswap, but the only thing is that I dont know how hard it is to do. I know the SR20DET cost a lot (from what I have seen it sell for). But what I was thinking about also doing was keeping the stock engine and building that up, or would I it be better to get the SR20DET for it?

Building up the KA isn't all that bad. There's just a huge hype about the SR20det IMO. You might want to upgrade Pistion and rods if you are considering going boost on a KA. I've heard people running 7lbs and doing fine while others like my cousin who broke a rod in his 240sx coupe just by normal street racing. So you never know. I guess it depends on the driver. If you are seriously considering building up the KA I think you should visit http://www.nsport.com. Their stage 3 combo is a very good price, but to some of us it's a little steep, as it comes with everything for a complete upgrade. But their stage one turbo kit is a very good price IMO. Others may have other suggestions but that's just what I think.
