Hi, kinda new around here. I've researched and I am about to put an S13 exhaust cam on my friend's 91. We found a 91 at a salvage yard and pulled the exhaust cam to install.

My question is... I've been reading about the colors that are supposed to be on the cams. The exhaust cam on this car had WHITE paint on it. Also, the DOHC that we are installing has NO paint on the exhaust cam at all. Is this okay?

Also, the stupid question... I've read that the cam is supposed to be more aggresesive and get a bit more top end, but out of dozens of threads on here an zilvia, I've never seen any numbers. Anyone have any?

the paint is not to be trusted. ever. you have to make sure which is which when pulling them out.

The paint means nothing. Act like you never even seen the paint. Take the cams and match them up to your set that your taking out of the Ka before you take them out. Look at the dowl pin in the front of the cams. When you match up the lobes on the cams to the old ones make shure the dowls are in the correct spot. Presto you just figured out witch cam is witch. Jim wolf has a great wrightup on there sight that tells you how to install cams into a ka. That should get r done. You will get like 5hp.

Thanks for the help, guys, we got it figured out. Under good light, you can tell that there used to be orange paint there. We pulled both sets, so we know which is which. We're good to go!

I've seen the JWT cam site, I'm sure we'll be using it. Thanks again for the help.
