question about SS benefits

i was just lookin into getting a short shifter, why i don't really know. i know people use them for drag racing, but i never drag race. the only thing i do is Touge, and practice drifting every now and then. so i was wondering if ne1 can tell me the benefits of having a short shifter for some1 who doesnt drag race, but for sum1 who drifts, and busts out on the touge. thanx.

I think the benefits can be felt for any application. Faster shifts are always good if not just plain more fun. But you're right, depending on what you are planning for your car, its "need" is somewhat subjective.
