First of all, I just picked up another black 5 spd 240sx. 91, hatch back.

First thing I did was the sleepy eye mod by taking out the switch and cutting the brown wire. Is there any way to have the headlights turned on while its in the sleepy eye position? Thx.

you dont ahve to cut that wire to make sleepy eyes

theres something with a screwdriver you can do

my friends 240, if you toggle his head light switch fast enough it stops them in sleepy eyes

Let me tell you how I did mine, and it's just as simple. In your fuse box, you'll find a 5A fuse. Take that out, take a momentary push button switch, and put 2 spade connectors on the end so you can plug it where the fuse was. I suggest taking the 5A fuse and tying it somewhere in your switch line. Now, after you turn your headlights off, your motors will only move when you tap that button. Longer tap = down farther. When you get it where you want it, turn your headlights back on.

That's kind of what i did, i got a momentary on/off switch but its spliced to the headlight switch wiring. Same idea though, hold it down and the headlights will go all the way down, tap it, and you get sleepy eyes.

Congrats on finding another s13!Sleepy-eyes are obligatory! Question is, do you want to drive with your headlights in sleepy mode? Because you won't be able to see crap, at least there would be a sharp cut-off to your headlight's perimeter. I suggest doing the switch thing so you have more control. Also, if you want some 'illumination' when the lights are in 'sleepy mode' try getting aftermarket glass H4 housings with 194 bulbs inside. That's what i have, you can see in my sig. I used amber bulbs in mine...looks awesome at dusk!

I dont know about anyone else but the way I did mine, is that on the passenger side of the engine bay their is a relay box, in that relay box there is a relay marked headlight ret cont- (or something like that), I pulled that relay after getting them in the position I wanted. now they dont go up or down, they are permanently sleepy. the headlights I got off ebay, they were WAY to bright so it works out pretty will. btw its an SOHC, I would assume the DOHC would have a similar set up. Only real complain is that when im doing more then 50mph the left one starts to flap a little..

thinking back on it thats a pretty ghetto way of doing things, but im lazy and I dont feel like fiddling with a button to get them in position so w/e.. Plus when they were fully up I would get all sorts of dirty looks from ppl who thought I was highbeaming them.. lol..
