Do I still need to reshim my head if I'm reusing the stock shims, lifter and rocker arms? I have upgraded BC springs/titanium retainers and BC 264/264 cams. I marked everything be4 I took the head apart so if I put the shims back where they came from do I still need to reshim/check tolerances or should I be ok? The guy thats helping me do the build (very good master mechanic) said we should be ok just putting them back where they came from but I would think after changing the springs/retainers/cams the tolerances would be a bit different and I would have to reshim but then again I'm putting the shims back where they came from and I'm using the stock valves/lifters/rocker arms. This is my first head build so I'm putting most my faith in what my friend tells me but I know he won't be too offended if i tell him we should reshim he wants to get this right just as much as i do.

They should be ok, however, you still should check your clearances. Very easy thing to do.
