I had a question I`m changing my clutch, clutch was slipping really bad it goes nowhere yada yada.... after 3 days finally got the whole transmission and motor seperated finally!

I know the flywheel is recommended that it should be resurfaced, I`m going to actuall get it done tomorrow but the flwheel is close to flat where the clutch disc contact surface meet is this normal?

or should it have more of an edge or lip layer what ever you call it i noticed discoloration and small cracks i guess from heat, i`ve taken clutch assembly apart never seen it like that before or based on the discription would you still be able to resurface?

if resurfacing is out of the question where can i get a oem one, money is tight so thats the only thing i can afford plus its a stock KA24DE 179k miles i`ve tried only one that has oem so far is autozone no one else has it.

I want to go ahead and replace the rear main seal also, after i attempted to take that one out the bolt on the bottom breaks where its bolted on the oil pan the rear main seal dosent leak yet i was shocked by that one, is this hard to replace any pointers.

Rear main seal is easy. Take a small flat head screwdriver (be careful not to score the surrounding metal) and gently insert between the seal and the metal and pry the seal out. When the seal is out, tap it in with a rubber mallet.

Flywheel, you can resurface it depending on how deep the cracks are. Take it to a machine shop to get it resurfaced and see what they think. Shouldn't be too bad as long as the cracks aren't deep.

That bolt pattern at the rear main seal is the rear main seal plate. You dont have to remove this to change the seal. Like 180fan said, its really easy once you are to the seal. My only peice of advice, go with a brand new OEM Nissan rear main seal from your local dealer. When i built my motor i used the seal that came with the kit. It was a PITA to install and began leaking within a year. The Nissan OE seal has a special retainer layer of rubber around the circle spring that keeps the spring from popping out when installing it. It also has a lip around the outer edge that overlaps the seal onto the metal plate it mounts into. Very nice if you were to see the difference. Also, use a little bit of black RTV oil resistant silicone around the outter edge of the seal, to make sure it seals completely. Great insurance on a job thats taken three days so far.

Good luck!
