question about rebuild

hey guysss i have seardched and searched for this simple question but i cant find an answer ....dont laugh at me but do you have to bore your engine in order to acheive higher compression to turbo or can you just keep the standered bore and get aftermarket pistons and rods...can anyone clarifty for me?... and if you do a factory rebuild of a DE will it blow if you turbo it?

Only time you really HAVE to bore your cylinders is when they are scored or damaged. Then you have to bore atleast a little to get them smooth and even throughout the whole cylinder. But it is probably recommended to bore considering higher mileage engines will have some wear.

edit... AFAIK getting your motor over bored at your local machine shop shouldn't cost more than a couple hundred bucks for all 4 cylinders.

You can turbo a factory rebuild but if you don't use a decent fuel/timing management setup then it WILL blow (eventually).

Check ring gap with new rings or cylinder bore size using bore indicator. If it is fine, then you do not need to bore over, just de-glaze with a stone, clean it and put it together.
