Question about Power FC

I was looking into getting the Power FC J-Jetro and noticed that it only works for the 91' and up sr20.

Here is my dumb question, you ready?I have a 1990 S13 and am looking to get an SR20 motor. Did they not have SR20 motors before 91'? Is this why the power FC is only offered for the 91' and up SR20's?

Correct, before Jan 1991 the 180SX/Silvia came with a CA18DE, or CA18DET.
