ok i searched and couldnt find an answer. i have a 1989 240sx with the ka24e in it. when i put the 3 3/4 quarts of motor oil like im supposed to the dipstick seems to be short? but when i put 4 1/2 to 5 it seems to be the right length. is the ka24e really supposed to only hold 3 3/4 quarts or motor oil or more? everywheres i looked it told me 3 3/4 with oil filter and 3 7/8 without? i think i got that right. and help would be most apreciated.have a nice day and thanks for all your help.

maybe the oil dipstick tube isnt pressed all the way into the block, or maybe you arent checking the oil on level ground or while the engine is not running?

lol the tube is in all the way. i know how to check out.and yes it is on level ground i also notice it looks like the dipstick has been hitting against something i think it was hitting the crank. and i know about checking the oil when the motor hasnt been ran for a while. im not a beginner about cars.haha

hehe, just need to get the obvious stuff out of the way IIRC the oil stick doesnt come down into the oil pan in a place where it would be near the crank, and its stiff enough the it wouldnt curve out into the oil pan. ill go check my stick and see if i get the same thing as you

ok well heres a big update, haha well i had gotten a complete motor and transmission just like mone for 150 and i took the dipstick out of it and put it into mine and shows oil and this one has to be right so i have no idea why my last 2 dipsticks were identical but wrong. so this case is closed.
