question about odometer... but with a twist...

Okay, so my odometer doesn't work when the temperature is cold. I know there are already several discussions about this problem. My question, however, is this: Is the odometer unit the same on the digital and analog clusters? (it's an '89 240, by the way).

Here's my situation. My car has the digital display. Some time ago I had the other lovely problem with the speedo not working. I bought what was supposed to be a whole new cluster, but when I got it, they had sent me an analog cluster. At any rate, I still have it and was thinking that if the unit/motor/connection is the same in both, I would just use odometer out of this other cluster.

If anybody knows already, or has a couple laying around and could take a look for me, I would appreciate. Thanks everyone.

usually if the quick connectors are the same and the wires are the same color they are interchangable to see do the easy thing find a wiring diagram online for both and compare the connections
