i was reading about the process and read that the nikasil coating is about .008 inches thick. so i would lke to ask what is the max amount of material that can be removed??

also, is there any special process to honing the cylinder as opposed to jsut a regular steel sleeve?

Are you honing the cylinders to deglaze, or are you trying to remove enough material to go larger pistons? The fsm has the specs on what the cylinder walls diameter should be. You just have to make sure you don't oval or taper the cylinder. If you can afford it, it's easier to have it done at a machine shop.

right, the engine is at a machine shop right now and we noticed that there was a coating on the cylinder and when my machinest asked about it i couldn't tell him what the coating is.

i found out that the coating is nikasil and wanted to know if there is any special honing process because of the coating.
