Question about modifying my suspension

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Hi,

I have a Nissan Sentra SE. It's a fun car to drive, and I'd like to keep it for a long time, but now that I'm a bit older I'm looking to mature the car. I'm interested in softening the ride quality of my car, but I also would like to lower its stance a bit. I'm not sure if I can do both though, or if there is a kit there that I can use. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on that or products that they could recommend, that would be able to achieve that goal.

Thanks.

Softer and lower? There are some springs out there that do that, I want to say Tanabe or Skunk2 design some. Combine them with some KYB GR2 shocks (OEM replacements designed to handle moderate lowering) and you should be all set.

What year is the Sentra?

it's an 01 Sentra SE... I like it, and it gets great gas mileage(for now) thought i'd improve power and ride quality so it's better on long trips. I'll take a look at those vendors, I know u can go lower & stiffer, but I just wasn't sure if I cold go lower and softer with bottoming on bumps and things.

I personally wouldn't do it, but I can understand why someone might. I don't think any of the springs are a lot softer, and the GR2s are roughly the same as OEM shocks in stiffness terms, so ride quality will only change a little.

Let me know what else you're interested in doing, I have an '01 SE myself.

Thanks for the advice and tips... I'll have to think about it a bit more throughly...Well the plan was to add a turbo, uprgrade the audio, install a carpc, and descent alarm system, rims and tires, bodykit, and HID conversion..and maybe taking off the oem wing, and re-doing the tint and general detailing. That's about it, was looking to make it more comfortable, rather than making a track car.

A turbo without a good suspension/brake/tire combo could prove to be a handful. IMO, if you do decide to do that, you should opt for a tighter suspension. Tighter springs and shocks actually made my ride better on most roads, the stock suspension bounces quite a bit. Rough roads never quite get uncomfortable, but I do feel everything. Especially once you add the weight of the audio and bodykit, a bouncy suspension is going to feel wallowy and boat-like.

Yah, I was kind of hoping to go for that. I'd upgrade the anti-sway bars n such, but yah bouncy creamy ride was what I was hoping for.. the turbo wasn't for like crazy performance just added power for on ramps and overtakingbut thanks for the tips and advice though i still have to think about the whole thing yah i mean right now i feel every bump on the road it's not bad but it's not great either..

if your'e looking for suspension, you should look into 2 options a spring shock combo or get coilovers if you have mad cash to blow.I have the eibach prokits with the kyb gr-2's the drop isn't bad at all its pretty decnet, but keep in mind don't do the springs with the stock shocks, your stock shocks will blow eventually I got the kyb's off ebay for $160 i dunno how much they are retail. for coilovers you should look into teins, you can get a set for about $800 but don't look into Nismo's or ksports both are not great Nismo's don't lower as much and k sports are just garbage!!! I hope this helped you !! the best of luck modding that sentra!!!
