Take the head off of the block and ask to have it returned the same way. Or continually stop by and see the work done. When said work is done, you will get a bill, be sure that the bill reflects what you needed done, and keep the reciept. Ask the shop to itemize the bill. Or just take it to a reputable machine shop and trust them. You are awfully paranoid.

I am paranoid by nature, but I've also been burned before by shops. Its not completely unwarranted.

I planned on doing the itemized bill - but never done this before, so wanted to know how the process usually goes.
