Hey guys, I have been looking at replacing the struts on my S14, and I want to go with the KYB AGX kit mainly for their price. What can I say, it matches my budget.

Anyway, I was wondering (for those who have this product, or know its more technical specs) what the struts are valved for in terms of spring rates? I realize they are adjustable, but what rates are they most effective with?

My other question is how much ride height adjustment can they take? I've been thinking about springs like the Tien S Tech, RSR Race Springs, and MR Lowering Springs.... Anyone have any advice?

By the way, if this helps anyone in providing advice, I'm trying to get things to be more friendly for HPDE track events.

I have Tein S tech and AGX. For track events, I feel that the springs would be too soft. The shocks are good though, and have a decent range of adjustment. 2F and 3R or 4R is my setup for daily driving thru the city. 3F and 5R is a firmer ride, but I like it when I drive fast and the road is not too bumpy. I don't really use higher settings cuz I feel that they don't quite match the relatively soft Tein springs (F 3.7kg/mm, R 3.2kg/mm)

I think I'm leaning towards the Megan Racing Lowering Springs.

-1.75'' drop all around and 350 lb/ft and 250 lb/ft spring rates Front and Rear respectively. Lets hope the AGX will be enough. (if not, koni's should hold the answer)

This may seem like a dumb question, and may not end up being an issue, but if the drop in the rear is too great... is there any way to decrease the drop (increasing ride height) by adding a spacer of some sort to the mix. I could do something custom with my lathe and get creative, but I would like to know if that is a retarded idea or an accepted practice. And no, I have no idea if I've just described a bump stop... slash suspension newblet that cant yet use the right terms to describe his ideas.

^^if anything go with s-techs for a proven setup, megan springs 4 x 4 look from want ive seen, ive even seen someone posting their megan springs made the front higher then rear!

i got s-tech + AGX and i think the springs work pretty well with the AGXs. dampening is als very noticeable on the agxs, plus if you get megans they will void agx's warranty.

correct. the MR springs will void the agx warranty.

the megans do not look like a 4x4 tho

Sorry to dig up a 1 month old thread, but for all you guys with s-techs and AGX'x, what did you guys do about camber issues? I'm getting the STech/AGX setup for my S13 in a week and was going to just go with the eccentric camber bolts. Is that enough? When I take it into a shop for a professional alignment, where can they make adjustments if it's out of spec?

The eccentrics will work perfectly for the front. As for the rear, the stock hardware should be sufficient for camber and toe. I was running a few different shock/ spring combos ending with Intrax on AGX and the stock rear eccentrics were always sufficient. I did have to buy the eccentrics for the front though.

I've heard reports that the drop with S-Techs on an S13 will NOT require camber correction, because it is only a 1.5 inch drop. While that may be true, i guess it is dependent on what the camber was when it was on STOCK springs. It is also dependent on what camber angle you aim for in the end. For my daily driver, I want MINIMAL negative front camber... -0.5 inchs or maybe even -1.0 inches. I don't know my current STOCK camber angles, but if they are 0 right now (which is unlikely in a 14yr old car) then the S-tech drop might give me the -1.0inch maximum front camber that i'll allow.

Do you, gumby, or anyone else who has S-techs describe their alignment experience in-depth?

I'll probably get the Ingall's eccentric camber bolts for the front anyway, so I'll 'have it and not need it' rather than 'need it and not have it'.

By the way, i plan on doing Tein S-techs + KYB AGXs + ES TC-rod poly bushings + ALIGNMENT all in the next month when all my parts are on hand.
