I am relatively unhappy with how loud my 14 speaker Bose system will go. I like my music LOUD and the system doesn't cut it.

I checked with a local audio shop about just adding an amplifier and they made it sound like working on the system wouldn't be easy and would require wholesale, expensive changes.

So, while I can't comment specifically on your question, it does sound as though it is not and easy system to work with.

I'm with you too Bob. It's not really that loud at all. however, it does sound good.I was also thinking about upgrading the sound. Though when I began to think about how the 5.1 system is incorporated into the car, I thought twice about it. Unless there was a way to upgrade the amp without removing features, I wouldn't be interested.I think it just lacks a bit more highs and bass. I don't know if we could upgrade these items.I'm sure someone will chime in and give us the skinny on all of this.

My plan to add more bass to the M45 is to remove the stock 10" sub from the rear deck and install an upgraded sub (free-air like the Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1d) and get a dedicated amp. I'll run the existing sub wires into the line level inputs to drive it. I doubt you'll be able to hear it 3 blocks away, but that's not what I'm looking for. It should help enhance the lower end a bit.

I'm sure you could run your sub and amp in the trunk even with the firewall there, you might just have to get a bit more creative with the wire routing. Good luck and let us know what you end up doing.

If you search on here somewhere there is a post with a guy that upgraded his system and he shows where you can get through the back for wiring, not sure if it is actually a firewall there but the gas tank is between the two seats. When things get a bit warmer I will be redoing my system so I'll let ya know how that works out..................... Boon

The gas tank is between the two seat????? Huh??? I've never seen this. I would have thought it would be under the trunk area.
