Question about inspection. pls help

Hey Nico!!So i'm new here but i've been on clubrsx for ever. anyway, i just bought a 1991 240sx from a guy off here and i had an sr20det sent over to him so that we could do the full motor swap and everything. he is in PA and i'm transferring the title to NY. I'm currently living in Long Island/NYC and the question is, how the hell do i get the 240 to pass inspection. i was wondering if anybody knows of a place in long island or nyc that will just hook me up with inspection and just pass me or if there are any tricks into passing. any help would be very appreciated.

get a sticker off the streets. like 100$ a pop. look around sleezy lookin mechanics and ask around for inspection stickers.

yea thats how i got my rsx type s to pass with greddy turbo kit and exhaust and everything. but the guy i got it from got taken to jail for like drug charges so now i'm looking for a new place

ok...first off

emissions are only 96+ in ny state.

you have a 91, it doesnt matter if you have a civic motor under your hood, you just need to pass inspection... brakes tires exhaust etc...

that was one of the main concerns when i was looking for my s14, was that it was a 95, any other year s14 would be a pointless purchase if i intended to swap due to emissions.

no need to "spit" anything, just take your car to a normal inspection shop (might help to know someone that doesnt look at anything tho, they will hit you with stupid s*** like wipers)

sebazztard, I think thats only for upstate. I'm on long island and no one can pass inspection. I know two or three people who would do it for around $100. OP, where on LI are you?

i thought it was all of new york? im upstate too and no problem passing... maybe being close to the city effects it?

could be....drive upstate to get your s*** inspected, smogging may be just a city thing due to the heavy pollution.

even upstate you have to fine the right person to pass it i tried doing that he wasnt going to pass it because i had HID (no high beam) but other than that the car was mint and i had header and no cat..

I say if you want to try to pass run 2 or 2.5 inch piping with a stock 240 cat and muffler. Umm maybe you should set your turbo boost low for the test then set it back up after. Or you could try buying parts from japan to set up the engine.

Cars older than 1996 do need an emission inspection is nys. In the NYCMA which includies long island (i think) nys dmv calls it a high-enhanced emsiion inspection while i beleive upstate they call it low-enhanced (not sure what it involves). They put your car on the dynamometer and drive it up and down to about 60mph with the"sniffer" in the tail pipe. I do know from working at a dealership that cars older that 25 years do not need emission inspectionshere but still need safety. But that doesnt apply to any of us yet.

lol..none of that s*** up here, i dont know what you are talking about. by the time any sort of sniffer tests come up here, my cars will be 25 yrs old anyway.
