I bought a while back, the heads-up-Display for a 240 and was wondering if i would have to buy the dash cluster as well in order to use it or if the harness will just plug into my existing dash and if not what year 240 dash cluster would i have to use and would i have any problem with my SOHC wiring harness if i was to use it. Thanxs in advance for those who reply.

i think the cluster has the digital control unit, it just feeds the HUD the same signal. so i think u need the cluster

You need three things, the cluster, the HUD unit, and the sub-harness underneath the dash.

You can't run the HUD unit without the digital cluster, since that's what it plugs into. You can't run either without the proper sub-harness, since the digital and analog clusters have different sub-harnesses.

not sure what years, but im pretty sure it was available for all s13 COUPE models. and it was an option for coupes, so not all coupes have them

my coupe came with one, too bad it doesnt work. i swapped it out for the analog, right now im trying to fix it... if not, and i REALLY REALLY want them. a new one will cost me $200 :(

good luck on getting yours to work

one of the resistors on the hud is broken, which is why the speedometer part doesnt turn on. if it reads 0mph all the time, then your speed sensor is broken.

or it can be like me, where both are broken for me. i switched to analog, and my speedometer still reads 0, oh well :(

To correct a bit, I don't think it was an option. It was my understanding that ALL coupes came with the digital speedo. My car was originally a base model coupe (only options were a/c and power windows) and it had the digital cluster.

you said the resistors might be broke can they be changed or would a Nissan dealer have to fix it?

msaskin, go to socal240sx.org, faqs, features and specifications, then 89. scroll down a bit til you hit instrumentations, "heads up display w/digital speedometer" has a yellow dot, which means optional :D

S13_405, found it... and to correct myself, its a capacitor, not a resistor. sorry. heres the link

http://www.240sxforums.com/for...r+hud

i tried to do what he said and pull off the capacitor... but the prongs broke like the other guy's. i still havent had time to ask my friend if he could still solder it back on. i hope so, that way i can get the kickass hud to work again. but im starting to like the analog ... we'll see

hope this helps you guys

Interesting...I stand corrected.

Possibly it was just a very very common option, or maybe it wasn't an option on the DOHC cars? I just know every coupe I've seen has had a HUD, but then again, the only coupe's I've seen have been KA24DE cars.

i think it as an option for all coupes, you can check by going to the other years. im too lazy to check right now, but i have seen 91+ s13s without hud
