Did anyone else have issues with heat soak from the radiator on their intake? I put one in last week before going to the track and noticed that the intake tube going in front of ( or more over the top of actually ) the radiator was hot. This can't be good for your intake charge, has anyone else run into this problem and if so what did you do to fix it? I am thinking of useing some pipe insulation wrap, I think that will sufficiently isolate the heat from going into the engine. Aluminum is great at conducting heat but thats not so good forintakes

I am going to make a cold air duct this weekend for my intake, with the heat that the header puts out now I am going to need to feed it some fresh air some how. I have some 3" dryer duct flex hose and a 5" to 3" adapter so I'll be hiding that behind the lower portion of the front grill and see where that gets me. I am going to paint the reducer flat black to kinda hide it a bit, I hate the look of hardware store fixture peaking out on a car.I also picked up some insulating tape for the intake pipe so I'll wrap that up too this weekend. When I go back to the track I will post some times and see if there is any difference. I am not expecting anything crazy, maybe just an increase in trap speed or possibly a tenth of a second but that may just be wishful thinking. I also did a ground wire install my self during the week. I still need to get a wire to the alternator and block but so far all that's gottten me is better radio reception

I wrapped the intake with some insulated foil tape last night. It looked like shart when I finished so I went and got some aluminum HVAC repair tape and re-wrapped the outside to fix up the look a bit and help insulate even more. I started making the support bracket for the filter end last night as well, I should have that finished and installed before the weekend is over. When I popped the hood last night ,before I wrapped the intake tube, the pipe was hot as hell. It had to be between 95 or 105 degrees!! That can't be good

if you are touching the insulation of course it will be hot. the keeps the heat from getting to the actual pipe.

this in general will not make a big difference if any. i dont think you should worry

No it was BEFORE i put the insulation on that it was in the 100 degree range not after...silly I think it was affecting my performance to some degree ( no pun intended )
