Question about headlight (HID), one side cannot work

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi
I am fixing my wife's EX35 2011 headlight but get a strange problem. Really need your help.
The driver side HID light stops working for weeks. They are aftermarket HID kits 35W.

1. I checked the HID bulb, ballast, capacitor, and extension wire by switching to passenger side, they are all good = Issue is not HID kit.
2. Remove car battery and access the fuse box, both headlight fuses are good = No fuse issue.
3. Plug in original H9/11 bulb, the bulb works. = circuit is good, no need to check step 2.

My question is when HID is good, circuit and fuse are good, why I just cannot make driver side HID works...? Any suggestion?

Thank you!

after you plugged in the original bulb and it worked good, did you try to reinstall the HID bulb? Maybe there was just a back connection on the first try? Other than that, I would be stumped.

Yes I plug back the HID kit but cannot make it work.
What I am assuming is the cable resistance become higher and thus electric current is not enough... I purchased the relay harness and will try again this weekend.

Ahhhh... yes - I didn't know you didn't have a harness. That should help with the HIDs (I have a harness with my HID)
All the LED headlights I have installed did not need a harness.

So just got it fixed with the relay harness.
I did not add relay harness in the past 4 years, everything was fine until recently. Time to upgrade to new QX50 I guess.
