My exhaust manifold had a slight crack and sounds like sh*t. What's the best headers out there for a ka24de that wil pass smog? Thanks.

I couldn't seeing the headers making a ton of difference in passing smog so long as they have all of fittings for your emissions junk. I have used pacesetter in the past, and fitment sucked but they helped quite a bit above 5.5K. But I doubt they were approved. I would be willing to bet that DC is approved or exempt.

S13 or S14?

S14 has the cat right after the manifold, so putting on any of the current aftyermarket headers (OBX, HotShot, DC) will eliminate the cat, and you'll not pass emmisions.

If it's an S13...then the cat is under the car like normal, and any of the headers will be fine.

Oh, and I have OBX now, fitment and quality look good. Fitting the EGR sucks, but it is hard with even the stock manifold, so don't let that discourage you. I live in KS so I could care less about emissions, and just pulled the EGR.

For S14s you can stick a cat after the header, then just cut out part of the exhaust, can't you? That shouldn't be too difficult...

I have heard good things about the HotShot, but that is quite a lot of money for minimal gains. And as we all know, Megan and OBX are just manufacturers of counterfeit parts. The OBX = DC, but for less. I do not see any reason to spend more, for what amounts to a few ponies. If I am gonna drop 500 bones on a header, it better be IAP or Rev Hard. My $.02.

The DC sports header is ceramic coated. The OBX header is painted. huge difference.

Mine is most certainly not painted, it is stainless. Also, that is a prime example of what makes it a counterfeit part. They stole DCs bend layout, and proceeded to make the parts cheaper. But painted headers do suck @ss. Specifcally the first time you get them warm, and are sitting at a stoplight. Smoke just pours out from under your hood. I took mine off so the smoke could clear.
