My car currently has no transmission, but I want to know if it will crank, cuz if not I will go ahead and pull the motor and buy another one...

I think there is a way to jump a wire (b/f said to "trick" the ecu into thinking theres a transmission)...anyone how to do this?

Any help would be great, thanks!

you dont need a transmission to start the car, just the flywheel, but you do need a transmission to make it move

Well, does the S13 have a crankshaft position sensor that is mounted on the top of the bellhousing? I know that the S14 does. And will not run without it.

the S14 doesn't have a CPS in the bellhousing... the only CPS is at the exhaust cam (which is where the distro and coil are driven on an S14 KA) You can start a motor without a transmission. All you need is the flywheel so the starter can turn it, but without the transmission, it'll be next to impossible to have it engage the flywheel.

So with battery power and assuming the starter is good, it should crank?

Somone told me the starter is bolted to the transmission...T or F? If it is, I won't be able to start it...
