I recently had a local mechanic change my fuel filter as he was doing a tune-up. I was looking the the fuel filter today and it seemed old and scratched. Is there a re-useable case in which the filter is contained, or did I possilby get ripped off?

Well you may scratch it quite a bit, because it is kind of a goofy location.

Heres what a new fuel filter looks like

Its possible you got screwed, though.

confirmed it was not in fact changed. These guys suck ***. When they aligned my wheels, they centered me at 1 o'clock.

Fuel filter should have def. been a diy thing, but my mechanic told me he would only charge me for the part. Installation is a no-brainer. He charged me for the part, but did not change it.

Does anyone know a talented and honest Q mechanic somewhere in the Phoenix area? Need a valve cover gasket replaced and I dont have the the tools nor the time to do it.

On the other hand, I will be getting my hands wet with a fuel pump replacement in 2 weeks:biggrin:

Read the fuel filter posts and search for one by Greg azhitman who specifies European Motors or something like that in Phoenix.

Mine looks a little larger than the one in the pic above, especially the top part. Hope its not the factory one! It would have 130k of use! Maybe its just non-oem replacement - has a barcode sticker on it.

Though the VH41DE and VH45DE fuel filters look identical, they are not and have different part numbers.

Wes's post looks a little fishy to me also. May be a Nissan filter for another motor?

I've got a new OEM filter in front of me and it looks exactly the same as the one in Wes' pic, along with the P/N on the box. On the other side of the filter it is stamped "F1006-061 Tennex". I put one in a few months ago and it fit very snug in its mounting bracket.

The one in Wes's pic is identical to the one I have beside my desk for the Q. Same p/n and the G50 is on the application list too.

Auxiliary HID ready to go. Infiniti Mechanic forum? RSTB wil take a while as there is too much junk in the trunk, as the saying goes. My wife views her automobile as her personal beast of burden.

Do you have a measurement for the G50? I am sure not going to tear into that one until my fuel pump deamands it.
