Our fridge is 14 yrs old....has been acting up a bit, but is now cooling OK. Ice maker stopped working a while back.
Question is, would you sink any money into fixing the ice maker or get a new fridge??

Below is my 04 coupe

Hood Hinge on my pass. side is now rubbing the fender when I open it. I've read some posts about this, but didn't get a feel for exactly what the problem is or how to fix it other than replacing the hinge. I've never had this issue with any car in the past.
Are these hinges just week and wear out?
Can you beat them back into shape with a mallet? (yes, I did pound on it already)
If I lift up on the hood at the hinge while it is raised or lowered by somebody, I can get it up and down without rubbing.

Bose Radio has taken my cd's hostage..... :tisk:
Can I take the unit out and get my cd's out??
I did successfully do this recently with my son's CD player in his 05 Focus after his buddy jammed one in there.

Fridge...if it is 14 years old, I would go on and invest in a new one. Word of warning...they are expensive now. Mine was $2400 but I love it. It is the Samsung with the freezer drawer on the bottom and the double doors for the fridge. I have the icemaker and water in the door and I tell you right now...that ice maker sux! We have a seperate ice maker so we don't have to depend on that one. A newer fridge would probably be a lot more energy efficient too.

Of course I really love the cooling drawer for my beer.

We almost pulled the trigger on a Samsung french door/freezer in the bottom counter depth for $1,895! Was told that it was a 2 month old floor model discounted down from $2,700....Then, found out it had been returned with explained why it wasn't as clean as it should be. (Samsung is rated 1 with JD Power)
found out our company gets great discounts thru Whirlpool, so looking at this one due to how much space the ice maker in the door takes and how little the ice bucket is in them.
It does have a water dispenser inside the door.

But, since our GE is now back at 0 degrees in the freezer, will probably hold off.....two in college in the fall!!!

.
Get a new fridge. We recently replaced our 38 year old side by side Gibson with a new Whirlpool Side by Side Santina. Santina looks like stainless steel but holds magnets on the door. Stainless steel does not. We saw a huge drop in our electric bills and having an icemaker is nice

I had to replace my hood hinges at 101.5k miles. Dealer charged $268.00
Argue that they are defective. They took $$$ off the full price.

You may want to consider an aftermarket Radio/CD player?

Or a new car comes with all new parts and a warranty :)

Good luck Rich

I wouldn't bother with the icemaker. The third time mine broke and cost me money I said no more. The fridge is now headed for the 30 yr mark. I wouldn't buy the time of day from Whirlpool. After being in my hometown of Evansville In. for over 50 years Whirlpool packed up and headed for Mexico putting over 1200 people out of work last June. The lousy bastards!!!!

PM'd you, know a guy that can fix the radio locally. He fixed mine, no issues since and he has a year warranty on it as well.

Update on the hinge.
Picked up a new one at local Infiniti for $32
Bought 1 can of primer & 1 can of Twilight Blue (Ford dark blue)

Removed the bolts from the top of the fender and 1 inside the door.
Pulled back fender and loosened all bolts on the hinge.
Removed the bolts from the hood while having someone hold hood.
Replaced the hinge (bolting to car then bolting hood to hinge.)
Replaced all bolts and done.
Total time?? 30 minutes or less, but I wasn't in a hurry.

Saved some $$$ :woot:
What tool do I deserved now with my saved $$$$ :gotme
I'm sure I'll find something!! :gapteeth:

Rich you are the man.

About the fridge. I never had good luck with Fridges. Most of them dies on me. Mind you if the fridge breaks down 2 times I will replace it. Newest one is 2 years old. Had a little design flaw since the bottom shelf had no support in the middle and it cracked the plastic around the glass. Got a new shelf from Sears since it was under warranty and I made a support for it in the center between the 2 drawer. That was 1.5 year ago and no issue since.
