i would wait on the downpipe, considering it's simple to install with the engine in place, the turbo extension needs to be installed before you drop the engine in....

it all depends on which sr model into what s chasis. but as rule of tumb, the only thing you ever have to revome is the down pipe and the turbo heat shield. everything else leave where they are at. also it is recommended to remove the shifter since it gets stuck.

i dropped my motor and trany in one piece(in a s13) the only thing that i took off was the down pipe. if u r droppin it in a s13 u should be able to wiggle it in provided u have good hoist and few people to help u with it

yup that's how I did it too... motor+transmission comes out and goes in...

Its a BIOTCH to line up the bolts of the engine mounts to where it's supposed to go... Took us like close to 30 mins just trying to line that **** up... Prybar helps too... You can use it as a "chisel" to get the bolt in the slot.

take the turbo elbow off (the O2 sensor housing) It has a tendency to hit the steering shaft during install. Also, get a jack to put under the trans to support it as you set the motor in place. That way you can angle the engine on the hoist which will give you a better angle to slide it in the bay, and then use the jack to level the motor and trans out.

truely the worst part was getting it to line up on the mounts...it took me a good hour to muscle it in with my friends, and its just a matter of taking th etime to do it. a suggestion is to have the mounts loosely attatched to the car and then from there try to get them on the motor, that way u can slide them up and down the little slot. i also kept my turbo extention on, with the aiv taken off and plugged up. i had no clearence issues.

im trying to cut a little costs here. my friend has his mounts filled with the softer polyurethane and the engine doesnt even move during hard accel. during low idel (600 rpm or so) he gets a little in cabin vibration but i'll just set my idle a little higher if it bothers me.
