I have been having issues with my alarm tripping unnecessarily and was looking through the FSM but couldn't find any information on troubleshooting. Is there a way to do a self diag on the factory alarm computer the same as the ECU and TCU? I have noticed that the alarm light blinks at various rates rather than a steady blink. The only two ways to keep the alarm from tripping is either pull the relay or leave the doors unlocked.

Has anyone here that has an early G50 had trouble with their factory alarm?

The alarm on the Q is very simple in the way it works. It is not connected to the Consult port on the 1990-1993 Q45.

I would start replacing bad parts after you find out which ones are bad.

Matt- I haven't had trouble with the alarm on any of my Q's but the hood switch in the engine compartment has caused other owner's alarms to turn on randomly. Try replacing it with new, zip tying it in the closed position, or cutting the leads and splicing them together. Also look at the switch in each door that turns on the interior lights when the door is opened. Are the rubber covers intact and is the switch and mounting surfaces in the door jambs free of corrosion? They may not be grounding properly. I've got lots of door switches if you find a defective one.
